Soft Targets

Hailing from the Florida panhandle, the indie rock band Soft Targets dropped by for this session during their Midwest tour where they delivered a take from not only their debut full-length Frequent Flyer (the poppy “Happy Again”) but also two numbers from their newly released sophomore effort Heavy Rainbow (“Surrendering Slow” and the decidedly edgier, left-of-center track “Under Control”).

Surprisingly, with their new album just being released, the Tallahassee trio (consisting of Jesse Corey – vocals/guitars, Nate Sadler – bass/keys/vocals and Steven Gillespie – drums/vocals) also unveiled a brand new track entitled “The Punch,” a soulful pop number that showcases the positive musical direction this band and their music is heading. Drenched in melancholy at times and emotionally-charged at others, Soft Targets’ music ultimately has a very soothing and pleasing effect that manages to hit the bull’s-eye.
